If there were something to write home about September 2019, then many a youth will confirm that the amazing treat they had from Arcadia Cameroon was the ideal. During the weekend that closed the 3rd quarter of the year, youths from other Regions and diverse sectors in Cameroon, seeking to professionalise their future careers, converged on the Mountain Hotel, Buea.
The youngsters were treated by specialists, to different sessions on the theme, ‘skills for employability: building an ideal career profile.’ This edition, the 4th in the Arcadia Workshop Series, focused on three distinctive aspects: (1). becoming a valuable employee (by Miss Fotabe Elmine, Founding President of Fotabe University); (2). preparing for a first job (by Mrs. Marja Montanga, Managing Directress and CEO of Dunamis Safety Nets); and (3). career growth and development, and practical CV writing (by Javnyuy Joybert, Co-founder and CEO of COSDEF Group, and, Co-founder and COO of Afa Designs Inc.). The sessions were moderated by Miss Beverly Ndifoin, a seasoned media personality and slam poet.

It was in recognizance that many youths nowadays face challenges in building the ideal profiles they needed to attract their dream employers that the workshop was convened by Arcadia Cameroon (the brain-child of Pamela Happi, affectionately called Miss P), thanks to the sponsorship of Orange Cameroon. Other collaborators were: Rural Women Development Center (RUWDEC) – Cameroon, Eneo Cameroon, and The Miss P Show.

The testimonies were as many as the different persons who participated, yet with a common undertone, that of genuine satisfaction.
For instance, the phenomenal peace advocate, seasoned community development activist, and founder of Great Mind Development, Elvira Denise a.k.a. Impact Queen, revealed that, ‘the Arcadia workshop was one of its kind’, thanks to the practicality of all the sessions which thrilled her and made a very big difference in her life.
‘All presenters did their possible best to show us how to implement what they were saying. Practicality is what we don’t get from most workshops…’, Elvira Denise stated. ‘Thanks to Mr. Joybert, I could classify my contacts into three network categories and I saw how much I had lost [in] treating everyone under same [the] category’, she confessed.
In the words of another exceptional solution-driven civic leader and youth empowerment coach, Mr. Nkembeteck Henry Nkwa (founder of Nkwa4Change Solutions), ‘[the] Arcadia Workshop…was so powerful, inspiring and transformational indeed.’ He went further to indicate that ‘…as a consultant, self-leadership and competitive graduate coach, I learned a lot from other major coaches and leaders….’
Suffice it to mention that the previous 3 workshops in the same series respectively took place on 3rd June 2018, at Chariot Hotel, Buea under the theme ‘branding: what’s the difference that makes the difference?’; on 17th November 2018, at the Orange Technical Headquarters, Makepe Douala on the theme, ‘digital marketing: spend less, optimise your market’; and on 3rd March 2019 at the Chamber of Commerce in Yaoundé on the theme ‘attracting investment for your enterprise.’
