Who is GUEMEUM TCHOUANKAM Denise Elvira?
Guemeum, affectionately called The Impact Queen, is a 20-year old dynamic lady who hails from the West Region of Cameroon.
She is a youth empowerment actor who aims at motivating and inspiring youths with her words and actions.
Guemeum is the founder and project coordinator of Great Mind Development (GMD), a youth-led and youth-focused association aimed at motivating and inspiring the minds of youths through personal development and community development programmes.
Guemeum in real communion with some kids-in-need
Guemeum, is a final year student of biochemistry and molecular biology at the University of Buea. Aside from her onsite studies, Guemeum is an active online student at the Philanthropy University where she studies crash courses related to human resource management and fundamentals of project management.
As a result of her genuine services to youths and the community, she and GMD were nominated in either of four categories in the National Outstanding Youth Empowerment Leadership Award (NAOYELA). Precisely, in Category 2 as National Outstanding Best Female Youth Leader (Elvira Denise); in Category 16 as National Outstanding Best Youth Empowering Organization (Great Minds Development); in Category 23 as National Outstanding Best Active Youth On Social Media (Elvira Denise); and in Category 24 as National Outstanding Most Impactful Youth Leader (Elvira Denise).
Guemeum is passionate about grooming a youthful generation of possibility thinkers. She has a mission to empower youths psychologically. Her passion for motivating youths with words is the driving force pushing her to constantly upgrade her skills, with a special focus on motivational and inspirational speaking and writing.
Her passion for youth empowerment urged her and her team to have their first mega project on sensitizing youths on the proper use of social media.
In her opinion, social media is “a tool available to almost all youths, but still, most [youths, unfortunately] fail to use it properly.”
It was in the same light that she initiated and spearheaded a one-month project captioned, ‘Social Media to Your Advantage’, to educate youths both online and offline on the proper use of social media for valuable impact.
Guemeum also has a passion to groom youths who are ready to pick up their duties and serve humanity. This has enabled her to engage in youth-focused events — offering presentations on courses ranging from personal development to leadership.
Likewise, she finds pleasure being part of daily initiatives that can enable her to learn soft and hard skills to improve on her person.
Guemeum, in camaraderie with her peers…
During her free hours, Guemeum loves to dance and spend time with her siblings.
She also enjoys the art of debating. Indeed, Guemeum emerged the best institutional debater and fourth-best public speaker during the VC’s Word Championship, in the University of Buea.
Besides, Denise cherishes teaching: having served as a volunteer mathematics teacher to upper sixth students in her former secondary school.
“So far, my greatest challenge has been [how to manage] myself through my various areas of acting”, Guemeum revealed.
“Nonetheless, I am continuously working on [myself] and my team to ensure that we are productive in every area of work we get involved in”, she affirmed.
Guemeum also highlighted the challenge of raising funds to realize her passion and mission. “But after [seeing] the passion [in our works], most [people]…voluntarily decided to support us….”
