This December 2018, Afro Real Initiative (AFREIN) spotlights the multi-award-winning social entrepreneur, SIDJE TAMO Armelle, from Cameroon.
Be inspired to aspire, as you go through the amazing profile of SIDJE TAMO.
Who is SIDJE TAMO Armelle?
SIDJE TAMO is a social-entrepreneur, youth empowerment coach and mentor, and business development expert, with professional experience in network and telecommunications engineering and in agriculture. She is founder of Products Relative to the Agricultural Sector (PRA Ets) — a social enterprise that processes plantain trunks into biodegradable paper-packaging (thus creating jobs, reducing deforestation, and combatting global warming). She is certified in Agriculture, Entrepreneurship, Health Safety Security Environment (HSSE), and Cisco (CCNA).
SIDJE TAMO is very passionate about entrepreneurship. She has special interest in agribusiness: a flourishing sector which she powerfully believes has potentials to create youth employment and improve living standards. Besides, her passion strongly hinges on the fact that entrepreneurship and well-applied leadership are the keys to the economic reformation of Cameroon and Africa.
‘I am [also] passionate about venturing: not just for the sake of it, but most importantly, to learn and make success out of my errors’, SIDJE indicated.
SIDJE TAMO enjoys swimming, dancing, and listening to music.

Challenges, prospects, and way forward
Like any other entrepreneur, SIDJE TAMO has had her own commensurate dose of challenges. Topmost has been to find the rightful mix of team members to work with. Notwithstanding, her hands are firmly fixed on the plough and her attention towards accomplishing her mission and vision, amidst all.
‘We really hope to be the leading enterprise in the production of biodegradable packaging in Africa and the world…’, SIDJE revealed.
‘Personally, the most important thing is, to use my success story to motivate and inspire those youths who have lost faith in themselves — thus enabling them to realize that from nothing, one could eventually be of remarkable impact globally’, SIDJE asserted.
Her word of wisdom to aspiring youths
‘To achieve something, you should persevere’, SIDJE adjured.
‘It is imperative for anyone who desires to venture into business to build the right team, be focused, and be confident in what they do, their potential…’, she admonished.
Besides, ‘…listening to and being accompanied by other like-minds, such as experienced mentor(s) and coach(es) is very vital’, SIDJE emphasized.

In 2017, she won the second-best-innovation prize at the National Day for Small and Medium Size Enterprises, organized by the Ministry of Small and Medium Size Enterprises, Social Economy and Handicrafts (MINPMEESA) in Cameroon.
